Get Excited! 204 HP Electric MINI E Finally Revealed!
MINI finally revealed its new electric car, the MINI E, which is scheduled to debut next month at the 2008 LA Auto Show. This little "monster" features a 204 horsepower all-electric drivetrain which puts out 162 pound-feet of torque to the front wheels. According to the carmaker, the MINI E needs 8.5 seconds from zero-to-60. The car’s top speed is electronically limited to 90MPH.

In order to fit the lithium-ion battery-pack in the vehicle, MINI got rid of the back seat (which was for "kids" anyways). The battery is able to achieve 150 miles between refills andfully rechargeable in 2.5 hours from any standard power outlet.
The company will only produce 500 E’s and lease to customers in California, New Jersey and New York.
