Toyota Camry Hybrid - One of The Coolest Cars in Its Class

On US New’s Affordable Midsize Cars, the Toyota Camry Hybrid ranks second out of 23. Their ranking is based on US News’s analysis of 39 published reviews and test drives of the Toyota Camry Hybrid, and their analysis of reliability and safety data. The 2008 Toyota Camry Hybrid is a comfortable passenger car with great fuel economy and a great deal of interior features. Since a hybrid car, the Camry Hybrid doesn’t have the same performance capabilities of traditional gas-powered sedans. New Car Test Drive says, "The Hybrid is a good performer and one of the most fuel-efficient mid-size vehicles anywhere."

The Camry Hybrid utilizes a four-cylinder 2.4-liter gasoline 147 horsepower engine along and a 40 horsepower supplementary electric motor. These two engines create a hefty 187 horsepower. Just to compare, the Toyota Camry Hybrid needs 8.9 seconds to get from zero to 60, which is almost a second faster than the Toyota Prius. CNET says the engine "delivers a surprising amount of oomph, enabling the car to pass with ease on the freeway." New Car Test Drive also points out the car’s power. "The instantaneous torque from the electric motor also augments acceleration." They also say, "The Hybrid isn’t as quick as the V6 Camry’s, but it’s noticeably quicker than four-cylinder models, and particularly four-cylinders with the automatic."

The Camry Hybrid is EPA rated at 33 mpg in the city and 34 on the highway. Since the Camry Hybrid features a 17.2 gallon tank, this car gives you nearly 526 miles between filling up your tank.
