Toyota Prius Hybrid Review

Toyota Prius, the first mass-produced and the number one selling hybrid car, made its first appearance in Japan on December 15, 1997. In the last 10 and half years nearly one million vehicles were sold throughout the world and sales continue to boom. March 2008 was the best month for the Toyota Prius when 20,635 vehicles were sold. An interesting fact is, that 20,634 of the 20,635 vehicles were sold in Berkeley, CA.

Toyota Prius – The Best Selling Hybrid Car

In 1999 and 2000, the Prius welcomed the International Engine of the Year award. Also, Prius was the first hybrid car to achieve 130.794mph on the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah.

In 2003, the second generation (2004 model) made its debut. This midsized sedan collected almost all of the awards in the automotive industry. After the 10th anniversary, more Priuses were sold than all other hybrid cars combined. Also, this vehicle achieved a satisfaction rate at an amazingly telling 98 percent.

Of course, the car is all about the gas mileage. The Toyota Prius features an approximated EPA combined city/highway rating of about 48 mpg in city and 45 mpg on the highway. The vehicle also boasts a 89 percent less emissions that produce smog than the average new car. The center console assists the driver adapt his/her driving to maximize mileage – finally, something useful from all those stupid gauges they keep inflicting on us.

Toyota Prius – The Most Intelligent Hybrid Car Ever

This car is so intelligent – if you are bored of carmakers that add useless and ineffective new gadget to their vehicles, just to be able to state that they have something new, this is the right car for you. This car seems to be designed and built by a well-informed rational person. :)

Pros:

Smooth power transfer; excellent gas milage; bloothooth and GPS navigation; environmentally sound; amazing safety features.

Cons:

No warning sound if you leave the lights on; digital instruments are a little far from the driver; less powerful than other sedans; rattles.
