The 2010 Lexus HS250h is an interesting beast. We’ve covered it quite a lot because, among other interesting traits, it pioneers a new market segment: the dedicated luxury hybrid sedan.
We did an initial Drive Report and then, more recently, a full review, and now Lexus has completed the last piece of the puzzle: pricing.
The standard model of the 2010 Lexus HS250h starts at $34,200, plus a required $875 fee for delivery, processing, and handling. That means the effective starting price is $35,075.
If you want the Premium model, the one we drove in our review, that’ll set you back $37,845 with the fee added in. There, you’ll be past $40K once you add in taxes, title, and registration.
If you choose to add the Lexus Enform and Safety Connect systems, you’ll get a one-year trial subscription included.
After that, it’ll run you $140 a year for the Safety Connect system or $265 a year for Lexus Enform with Safety Connect. Multi-year subscriptions will also be available.
It shouldn’t be too surprising that pricing for the 2010 HS250h slots neatly above the highest-spec model of the 2010 Toyota Prius.
When Toyota priced the 2010 Prius, we learned that you could spend $32,500 and change, if you get the most luxurious level with the Advanced Tech package.
Since the Lexus HS shares some underpinnings and its Hybrid Synergy Drive system with the Prius (and other Lexus and Toyota hybrids), you can think of it as a very, very luxurious Prius with a trunk.
So if a Prius isn’t quite snazzy enough, or you’re not a hatchback fan, now there’s a hybrid for you. Just get ready to haul out the checkbook and fork over forty grand or so.
